Posterous theme by Cory Watilo

If you're ever in New York City...

...check out this (new, since I've been) place called Koryod@ng! It's on 31 W. 32nd St. in the Koreatown area of NYC. They serve teas, coffee, shakes, bubble teas, etc. in addition to loads of pastries, bread, and cakes. My friend and I spent hours just hanging out and also deciding which sweets to buy. (Also, we were starving and my left foot was hurting like crazy!)

The ambiance is great! I wish I took pictures of the inside: a wide open space with high ceilings and a friendly, earthy atmosphere. It really helped me relax after all the walking in the cold. The prices are a bit higher than most places, but that's expected of the area. The good thing is that a little over $10 can usually get you some nice tea and a small yummy cake. I ended up getting a chocolate chai tea and a tiramisu cake.

Here are some pictures of their cakes:

Happy Valentine's Day!

This is not gonna be a sappy post about a boyfriend/husband/lover/whatever. Not that there's anything wrong with that, of course. It's just not me. It's gonna be a THANK YOU...

  • Gratitude for having a family full of weird people who happen to be some of the coolest, most aggravating, strangest, most intelligent, most annoying, funniest people I will ever have the pleasure of getting to know and/or live with.

  • Thanks for having friends who take my quirks in stride, who don't run away from me after getting to know me, and who just understand.

  • Thank you to food (especially dark chocolate, ice cream, and Asian cuisine), world cultures, airplanes, Google, TV, shopping malls, eBay, Etsy, tissues, toilet paper, teapots, tea infusers, spoons, forks, knives... you get the picture. Thanks to everything that makes my life possible.

  • And, of course, extreme gratitude to God/Allah/Supreme Being for blessing me and my family and friends with probably more than we could ever wish for, even though most of the time we don't realize it.

If you break down in Chicago...

Chicago seems like a cool place, from what I've seen anyway. My friend, E, and I visited it about a year or two ago to check out the Harry Potter: The Exhibition. (Yes, I'm a Harry Potter nerd :P) I wish I still had my blog post about it, but my domain no longer exists :(

BTW, we missed Oprah's big Kickoff party for the 24th season of her show! She had the Black Eyed Peas on and the whole audience was a flash mob. Very cool! That could've been us!

Mel the matchmaker

My friend, Mel, likes to think he's a matchmaker...

(Calls me right after his meeting. He's very excited!)
Mel: "I had a writers' meeting today. When I got bored, I started counting cute guys. There were 10 cute guys!"
Me: "Okay..."
Mel: "You can pick anyone you want!"

(About our waiter at the Cheesecake Factory)
Mel: "Ooh, he signed it 'Paul S.'"
Me: *blank look*
Mel: "It means 'Paul Sexy'! Go ask him out!"

(On our new coworker who I've written about here)
Mel: "You and J make a good couple. I see how he looks at you!"
Me: "He was looking at my outfit. I think he's judging me."
Mel: "He's really good-looking!"
Me: "I'm pretty sure he's gay."
Mel: "He's a great catch! Anyone would be lucky to have him. It should be you!"
Me: "He doesn't like girls!"
Mel: "So?"

dress shopping!

On Saturday, I joined my friend and her 2 other bridesmaids on a dress shopping trip. We hit up 2 different bridal shops: David's Bridal and a smaller boutique bridal salon.

We tried on about 6 dresses each at David's Bridal, which wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be. My favorites are below:

Pictures are from the David's Bridal website.

My friend's colors are champagne and purple. It's the same color as the first dress above. The dress brand calls the color "wisteria". The early favorite was the second picture with the floral pattern. My vote went for that as well. If I was going to pay more than $100 for a dress, it had to be something I would be able to wear in everyday life and not just at her wedding. I like value ^_^

Thundersnowpocalypse 2011

Last night, we had what some weather forecasters called THUNDERSNOW because it was a mix of snow with thunder and lightning. Weird, yeah? That's not really typical at all!

By the time I woke up this morning, a lot of our driveway and sidewalk were already plowed by my father and brother. But, I wanted to test out my new emergency shovel so I ended up just shovelling snow away from my car. As you can see, I've done a good job. You can see the asphalt coming through :P

testing, testing, bored

I was feeling "creative" so I started playing with the Retro Camera app on my phone. I took pictures of my dad's book. The app is nice. I definitely need to start using it a lot more. Besides the default Camera on the phone, I have 3 other camera apps (including Retro Camera) installed. I'm not sure why... I also have 3 Twitter apps installed, but that's a different story...

Shipping Community

I love how well Troy knows her. From the different voices she uses down to her liking little monsters on her pencils. Guys, I ship these two!

Troyannie

But, I don't mind some Abed/Annie just because it's an odd coupling. Plus, Danny Pudi and Alison Brie are always trying to get their characters to interact with each other in the background.
